Real Mia Grace Bride: Wedding of Jeannie and Garrett

We cannot get over how perfect Jeannie and Garrett’s rustic vineyard wedding turned out! The simplicity of their décor paired with the natural beauty of the venue couldn’t have been more beautiful! We are absolutely thrilled to share their fantastic day with the bridal world and we are so glad we could have been a part of such a special occasion!

“It was fantastic! I came in with only a vague idea of what I wanted, as I had only been in one other bridal shop the day before. Adrianna helped me feel comfortable and confident and was very attentive to my needs. She helped me find the one after only trying on a few dresses! The same can be said for my bridesmaids. All four of them had varying body shapes but with her help, we were luckily able to find a dress that complimented each of them. I was very lucky to get them all in the color I wanted as well!” – Jeannie

A Long and Crazy Love Story

Technically Jeannie and Garrett met when they were in 8th grade together at Fort Zumwalt North Middle School and they actually ended up dating back then! It was only for about a month, but she remembers that even way back then he was a caring, loving person who listened to her opinions and such! Unfortunately, preteens aren’t good with commitments usually, so they broke up and didn’t see each other again until halfway through their senior year of high school.

These two lovebirds ended up reconnecting through Facebook and started dating shortly after Valentine’s Day in 2011! They attended West High’s prom together and graduated high school, but when it came time to start college Jeannie decided to attend Truman State. Garrett on the other hand was a little late getting on the college train. He had a dream to teach in Japan though, so he decided to join Jeannie at Truman the following semester.

College was one of the most stressful, but most wonderful times they had experienced together. She changed majors and they were both busy with their schedules, but every weekend they made it a point to spend with one another. Most of the time it was just playing videogames or binge-watching shows together! Junior year was the hardest, however. Garrett had the opportunity to study abroad in Japan and he obviously went for it! It was the best experience he had ever had in his life and Jeannie was so proud of him for following his dreams, but the long-distance relationship was trying.

During their senior year, the relationship they had was stronger than ever because of the difficult trials they had to overcome! They had the opportunity to live together for their last semester at Truman and after everything they had been through, they knew that they could do anything together. Both of them ended up graduating from Truman State in December 2015 with bright prospects ahead of them!

The Proposal

By early 2016, Jeannie and Garrett both had found jobs in Japan and while moving there proved to be difficult for both of them, this amazing couple knew they weren’t going to be doing it alone! Jeannie was set to leave at the end of May, which happened to be about a month and a half before Garrett! Knowing that she would be heading out before him, he knew what he wanted to do and on March 17th he proposed! It was just before sunset in front of the lake at 1000 Hills Park in Kirksville, the town where they attended college together! After Jeannie said yes, he called out for all of her friends, who happened to be hiding in the bushes!

A Brand New Chapter

On May 4th, Jeannie and Garrett celebrated their union at the Chandler Hill Vineyards surrounded by their loving friends and family! The rustic theme was absolutely perfect for this venue and they decided to keep things simple as to not take away from the natural beauty of the vineyard! All the gorgeous decorations were handmade by Jeannie, her mother, and her sister! Jeannie loved the look of chalkboards, so she tried to keep that a running theme throughout the wedding as well. Hydrangeas are Jeannie’s favorite flower and through the magical power of her Aunt Nancy, even on a warm day in May the flowers held up! Jeannie looked absolutely breathtaking in the Berkley from the Maggie Sottero Bridal Collection! This flawless ball gown design features beautiful lace appliques cascading over the entire bodice and the elegant illusion sleeves! The illusion V-back is paired perfectly with the illusion V over the sweetheart neckline! Their wonderful wedding was created through the hard work from the following vendors:

  • Photographer: Complete Weddings + Events

  • Caterer: Chander Hill Vineyards

  • Florist: Jeannie’s Aunt Nancy

  • Videographer: Jeannie’s sister’s friend Josh
