Their Love Story
Michael and Andrea met during freshmen orientation at Northern Illinois University in the summer of 2005. It was the last session of the day and students were divided into groups according to major. Somehow Andrea ended up in the wrong group, but luckily she met a nice guy and the two struck up a conversation.
Despite living in the same dorm freshman year, Michael and Andrea didn’t cross paths again until the fall of senior year. After weeks of sitting in the same lecture hall, and occasionally locking eyes across the room, Michael finally approached Andrea and brought up that fateful day from summer 2005. With a few reminders, Andrea realized she was talking to the same guy she met three years ago.
Michael started walking Andrea home from class and sealed the deal with a PB&J sandwich, made with his own homemade peanut butter. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Proposal
Due to some crazy summer scheduling, Michael and Andrea were finally reunited after 5 weeks apart. Michael told Andrea they were having a “date night” and she needed to get dressed for a nice evening out. When Andrea finished getting ready and came downstairs, Michael was waiting with a surprise hidden under a sheet. He lifted the sheet to reveal a map with a pin in central Vermont, their new home. The plaque on the map read “The World Travels of the Thunberg Family.” Michael pulled a ring out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked Andrea to spend the rest of her life seeing the world and sharing in his adventures.
A Dream Come True
On December 22nd, Andrea and Michael celebrated their very special union at the NoMI Kitchen at Park Hyatt Chicago surrounded by loving friends and family! Andrea looked absolutely stunning in her bridal gown from the Allure Bridal Collection! This gorgeous A-line gown features an elegant lace bodice and flowing tulle skirt! The embellished neckline and the simple yet classic embellished belt add the perfect amount of sparkle to this glamorous design. Andrea also wore a beautiful fingertip veil from Morilee that was trimmed with pearls and beads to match her bridal gown. Andrea's blush dress helped solidify the color palette of soft grays and pinks with hints of burgundy. Chicago's iconic Water Tower on North Michigan Avenue provided a classic backdrop for Michael and Andrea's intimate ceremony, which was officiated by the groom's father and witnessed by their families.
