Love Story
Carrie and Joe met in 2013 while they were on the Relay for Life Steering committee. Carrie’s mom passed in 2012 from Ovarian Cancer, and Joe had cancer in high school. From day one, Carrie and Joe could be their goofy selves about one another.
Joe proposed while the couple was on vacation in New Orleans. The proposal in New Orleans wasn’t super fancy, but it was intimate. Carrie and Joe were in their hotel room on the last night of the trip. Carrie knew something was up. Joe told her to turn around, and when she did, he was holding the ring and asked Carrie to marry him. She said YES!
Wedding
Carrie and Joe’s wedding style was rustic with pops of fall colors. The part of the wedding day Carrie was looking forward to the most was the “first look.” Carrie was so excited for Joe to see her for the first time. It’s hard for her to keep a secret! Carrie said, “The look in Joe’s eyes when he saw me, was everything I thought it would be and more.”
Carrie said the most special part of the wedding was the first look with her dad, and their father daughter dance. Carrie’s mom passed away from cancer in 2012, and when Carrie’s dad saw her for the first time, he said that her mom would be so proud. Everyone was crying during their dance, because they knew how special the moment was.
Looking back on their wedding day, everything went really well! Everyone had a great time and enjoyed themselves. It was so special celebrating with their close family and friends.
